Privacy Policy

GoPottie

Last updated: June 2026

GoPottie ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the GoPottie mobile application (the "App"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

1 Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a secure hash). You may optionally provide a display name.
  • Pot and catch data: Locations you pin on the map, pot labels, catch logs, notes, and any other content you enter into the App.
  • Subscription information: If you purchase a premium subscription, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not store your card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status only.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Location data: The App requests access to your device's GPS to allow you to pin pot locations. Location is only accessed while you are actively using the App and only when you choose to record a location. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Device and usage data: Basic diagnostic information (App version, device OS, crash reports) may be collected to help us fix bugs and improve performance.

2 How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features
  • To manage your account and authenticate you securely
  • To process and verify subscription status
  • To improve the App through crash reports and performance diagnostics
  • To respond to your support requests and communications
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations
  • To serve advertisements through third-party ad networks (free tier users only)
  • We do not sell your personal data to data brokers.

    3 Sharing Your Information

We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

    • Service providers: We use backend infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting and database services) who process data solely on our behalf and under strict confidentiality obligations.
    • Platform providers: Apple and Google process subscription payments through their respective stores under their own privacy policies.
    • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process (e.g., a court order).
    • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

    4 Advertising

Free-tier users of GoPottie see advertisements served by third-party ad networks, including Google AdMob. Premium subscribers do not see ads. Ad networks may collect and use certain information to show you relevant ads.

    What ad networks may collect

    • Advertising identifiers: Your device's advertising ID (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) to serve and measure ads.
    • Device information: Device type, OS version, screen size, and general network information.
    • Usage signals: Ad impressions, clicks, and interaction data used for ad measurement and fraud prevention.
    • Approximate location: Country or region-level location derived from IP address for contextual ad targeting. Precise GPS location is never shared with ad networks.

    App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS 14.5 and later, the App will request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before accessing your IDFA for personalised advertising. If you decline, you will still see ads but they will be less tailored to your interests. You can change this choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

    Opting out of personalised ads

    • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track".
    • Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → select "Opt out of Ads Personalisation".
    • Remove ads entirely: Upgrade to a GoPottie premium subscription.

Google AdMob is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it at policies.google.com/privacy.

    5 Location Data

GoPottie uses your device's GPS to let you pin and view pot locations on an interactive map. Specifically:

    • Location access is requested only when you use map features within the App (foreground use only).
    • We do not access your location in the background or track you when the App is closed.
    • Location coordinates you choose to save are stored in your account and are only visible to you.
    • You can deny location permission at any time in your device settings, though this will limit map functionality.

    6 Data Retention

We retain your account data and pot/catch records for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records for longer. Anonymised, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

    7 Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

    • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
    • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
    • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
    • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
    • Objection: Object to processing of your data in certain circumstances.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@go-pottie.com. We will respond within 30 days.

    8 Children's Privacy

GoPottie is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

    9 Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage, and access controls to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

    10 Third-Party Services

The App may use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

    • Apple App Store / Google Play Store — subscription billing and app distribution
    • Google AdMob — in-app advertising (free tier only)
    • Mapping services — to display interactive maps within the App

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties and encourage you to review their policies.

    11 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
